Microneedling

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling promotes the formation of new collagen and elastin, which results in fresh, more youthful looking skin. The Dr Pen device we use can penetrate the skin with precision to treat areas that other microneedling instruments, such as dermal rollers, cannot reach. As a result, we can treat more difficult area with wrinkles around the eyes and mouth. In our experience, we have seen dramatic results for a variety of skin conditions such as:

  • Wrinkles
  • Scars
  • Loose skin
  • Irregular skin tone
  • Stretch marks
  • Sun damaged spots
  • Enlarged pores

Who is a Candidate for Microneedling?

Just about anyone! It can be used for all skin types, even darker skin which is often limited when it comes to laser treatments.

What Areas of the Body Can Be Treated with Microneedling?

The most common application of microneedling is to the face and neck. However, it can also be applied to the décolleté, hands, legs, abdomen, and your back. The Dr Pen device helps target skin irregularities that need more collagen remodeling, such as acne scars or stretch marks.

How is the Microneedling Procedure Done?

After the skin is cleansed and prepped, a topical numbing cream or anesthetic is applied to prevent any pain throughout the procedure. Either Dr. Demetri or our licensed esthetician will set the precise depth of the pen based on your skin type. The pen has fine needles attached to it which create micro injuries to the skin. This results in smoother, more youthful-looking skin.

What Can You Expect from a Microneedling Procedure?

Fresh looking skin! After the procedure, it is normal (and expected) for your skin to appear red and flushed, similar to a sunburn. These symptoms usually resolve in 2-3 days but will improve significantly within a few hours of the treatment.
